Elena is not only a creator but also a mentor. In addition to her teaching role at the Accademia di Costume e Moda, Elena harbors a passion for spreading the art of weaving far and wide. She is keen on sharing her expertise and love for textile design with institutions that are as committed to teaching the intricacies of this craft. Elena believes in nurturing the next generation of designers by exposing them to the traditional techniques of weaving, ensuring that the art form continues to thrive in the modern fashion landscape.
Her laboratory, ‘AV Hand Woven’ located in Udine, Italy, is a testament to her commitment to craftsmanship and quality. Here, she and her team use traditional wooden looms to handcraft ‘weaves’ that transform into luxury fabrics and accessories. These creations are sought after by the most esteemed French and Italian haute couture brands for which she conducts research, and develops samples and production. Elena’s work is a perfect blend of heritage, innovation, and education, making her a distinguished figure in both the design and academic worlds.
